Takeda's Past (武田の過去, Takada no Kako?) is the 28th chapter of the Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple manga written and illustrated by Syun Matsuena it also known as Battle 28.

Plot[]

At Ryouzanpaku, Apachai was nailing a doll into a tree as a "spell" Shigure taught him, hoping for Kenichi to come home safely. Akisame looks into the sky as he was also worried about Kenichi.

At school, Kenichi was sitting down to rest and wondered if Takeda was honorable, since he was only using his right arm. Takeda didn't want to sit down, beacuse if he does, he wouldn't be able to get back up for the rest of the match. Kenichi asked why Takeda gave up boxing.

In the past, Takeda was friends with Ikeshita back when he was a pro rookie boxer. Ikeshita was jumped by a bunch of delinquents in front of a convient store and called Takeda for help. Takeda was debating to himself whether he should go help Ikeshita or not. He knew about his next match tomorrow and that as a license holder, fighting in the streets is forbidden. However, Takeda went to help and threw his greatest weapon, his Left Straight. Takeda and Ikeshita won the fight, but Takeda's boxing career ended with his injury from that fight. Ikeshita went on to become a pro boxer and seemingly left Takeda behind.

Back in the present, the bell rang for the next round to start. Takeda used the opening to try to knock down Kenichi again, but Kenichi was still standing and Takeda's injuries to lower body were acting up again. Takeda kept punching at Kenichi while telling him that friendship was stupid, however, told Kenichi told Takeda that he only came for himself not his "friends". Kenichi knocked Takeda through the metal fence with a knee attack. Takeda was about to fall off the building, but Kenichi caught Takeda's right arm.

In class while Miss Ono was still teaching, Miu was worried that Kenichi was still not back. Miu looked out the window and saw Kenichi and Takeda about to fall off the roof. Miu asked to be excused and rushed to help Kenichi.

Back at the roof, Kenichi wanted Takeda to pull himself back up, but Takeda responded that he can't.
